       Our Adult Two Day course will:  

  • Give a deeper understanding of the issues that impact on and relate to people’s mental health   

  • Teach practical skills that can be used every day, including being able to spot the signs and symptoms of mental  health issues and feel confident guiding people towards appropriate support.

  • Independent research and evaluation shows that taking part in an MHFA course: 

  • Raises awareness and mental health literacy   

  • Reduces stigma around mental ill health and feel confident guiding people towards appropriate support  

  • Boosts knowledge and confidence in dealing with mental health issues  

  • Encourages people to start a conversation with a person who may be experiencing a mental health issue

  • Promotes early intervention which enables recovery 

  • Each student that completes the course will receive a certificate from MHFA England to say you’re a Mental Health First Aider.

  • MHFA won’t teach you how to be a therapist, but it will give you the skills and confidence to assist someone suffering mental distress to seek appropriate support

All aspects of mental health are covered on the two day adult course and a list of local self help and professional support is provided to students on all courses along with the comprehensive MHFA manual and workbook

One Day Champions Course

​

Our one day mental health awareness and skills course qualifies you as an Adult MHFA Champion.

MHFA Champions have: 

​

  • An understanding of common mental health issues  

  • Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness

  • Ability to spot signs of mental ill health 

  • Skills to support positive wellbeing

​

We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn. 

The day includes a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. You will get an MHFA manual to keep and refer to whenever you need it.

When you complete the day you'll get a certificate to say you are an MHFA Champion.

The course is delivered in two sessions encompassing:

​

  • About Mental Health First Aid 

  • About mental health and stress in the workplace  

  • Stigma and discrimination

  • Depression

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Other mental health issues (eating disorders, self-harm, psychosis)

  • Early warning signs of mental ill health

  • Alcohol, drugs and mental health

MHFA Half Day Course

​

This four hour course is a short but informative introduction to mental health awareness. 

​

The session is a mix of instructor presentation and group interaction. The instructors provide a safe learning environment and support delegates through the whole course.
